2. Best Abstract Award 2025, International Congress of Chinese Nephrologists, 2025

Dr. Eugene Chan received the Best Abstract Award for his abstract entitled " Efficacy and safety of rituximab in young children less than 6 years with frequently-relapsing, steroid-dependent idiopathic nephrotic syndrome: an international study", which is established by the International Society of Chinese Nephrologists to honour outstanding research from both paediatric and adult Chines nephrologists.

Awarded First Prize in Smart Medicine for the project “Fc-engineered CD9 antibodies for blood cancers” in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (CICSIC) 2025 Hong Kong & Macau Regional. CICSIC is a global platform for college students to showcase their innovative practices and has become one of the largest innovation competitions worldwide, attracting over 130,000 students and 40,000 projects from 150+ countries since 2017. Kobby’s project will represent CUHK and the Hong Kong-Macau region in the Grand Final held in Zhengzhou this year.

Dr. Eugene Chan received the Young Investigator Award for his abstract entitled "Rituximab Therapy in Childhood Steroid Resistant Nephrotic Syndrome: An International, Multi-centre Study", which is established by the APSN to encourage and honor outstanding young nephrologists from the Asian Pacific region. 

      2. Outstanding HKCH Staff Research Award 2024

Dr. Eugene Chan received the Outstanding Research Award of the Hong Kong Children's Hospital in recognition of his research works and collaborative networks established locally, regionally and internationally.

       1. Best Poster Presentation in the Virology and Pathogenesis category at OptionsXII

OPTIONS for the Control of Influenza is the only global scientific meeting dedicated to influenza. The first meeting was conducted in Colorado in 1985. OPTIONS XII is the 12th meeting in the series and will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC), Brisbane, Queensland. Mr Tony LEI, PhD Year 2 student of Prof Renee WY Chan's group, was awarded the Best Poster Presentation Award at this prestigious international conference. He presented a paper on 'Differential Transcriptomic Responses in Paediatric Nasal Epithelial Cells to Influenza Infections Compared to Adults and the Elderly' that addresses the age-related changes in the immune system (even in structural cells) and informs the development of new therapeutic strategies with stratified needs.

     1. 2023 Hong Kong Medical Journal Best Original Paper Award, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine

           Each year the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) will select the best original paper that was published in the most recent issues of 

           the Hong Kong Medical Journal (HKMJ). The authors of the best paper will be recognised as awardees of the HKMJ Best Original Paper

           Award (BOPA). 

     

           The Original paper “Neonatal mortality in singleton pregnancies: a 20-year retrospective study from a tertiary perinatal unit in Hong Kong”

           by Fung GPG et al, (Hong Kong Med J 2022;28:430–7) has been selected by the members of the International Editorial Advisory Board of the

           HKMJ as the Winner of the Best Original Paper Award (BOPA) this year, after it was shortlisted by the local editorial board. The Award was

           selected from 33 eligible articles. It aims to encourage original writings of good quality by doctors, and papers published from December

           2022 to October 2023 issues are considered. 

 

           The award was presented at the Academy’s 30th Annual Fellowship Conferment Ceremony at 6:00 pm on Friday, 8 December 2023.

           This award was based on an abstract entitled "Basophil activation test based on grass carp extract in the diagnosis of fish allergy". The

           award was delivered in World Allergy Congress 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.​

     2. Best Presentation Award, The Japanese Society of Allergology

           This award was based on an abstract entitled "Plug-and-display peptide vaccine for the treatment of shrimp allergy". The award was

           delivered in The 72nd Annual Meeting of Japanese Society of Allergology in Tokyo, Japan.

     3. Travel Scholarship, European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology​

           Recipient of Travel Scholarship for European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Congress 2023 held in Hamburg, Germany

           on June 9-11, 2023. The presentation topic was "The Allergenicity Ladder: A Possible Approach for Home-base Fish Introduction in Children

           with IgE-mediated Fish Allergy?".
