Welcome to the Department of Paediatrics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Our clinical, teaching and research facilities are located within the Prince of Wales Hospital, the main teaching hospital affiliated with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the recently opened Hong Kong Children’s Hospital. As a department, we strive to improve the health and well-being of infants, children and adolescents through providing comprehensive health care, educating health professionals at both the undergraduate & postgraduate levels, and advancing knowledge through innovative research.

In terms of health care, we provide a full range of paediatric care ranging from genetic testing & chronic care management to advanced treatment of rare & complex diseases. Our neonatal intensive care unit is the largest in Hong Kong, our outpatient clinics serve over 27,500 patients a year and we admit around 5,500 patients yearly to our wards.

We also contribute extensively to both undergraduate & postgraduate health professional education through having a very active teaching programme for medical students, and supporting postgraduate research degrees at MPhil and PhD levels. Last but not least, our department is an internationally recognised centre for research in Allergy, Haematology & Oncology, Neonatology, Sleep Disorders and Virology in particular. We are committed to participating in the growth of world-class research through interdisciplinary & international collaboration, aimed at translating knowledge into better health outcomes & quality of life.

We invite you to take a look at our website to find out more about the clinical services we provide, the training programmes on offer, and the range of research & academic activities that are ongoing in our department.
